It is in fact made from the sap of the coconut palm flower. sharp incisions made in the flower lead to a constant trickle of sweet nectar which is collected and boiled to bring it to this sticky sweet consistency.

Goodfolks natural coconut Treacle is sourced from sustainable and organic plantations. The extraction process is standard and traditional (the coconut palm flower is tapped by men who climb the tall trees and collect the sap overtime). But because these are done on plantations and not in the wild (in the case of Kithul treacle) the manufacturing process is standardised and this has enabled the product to be USDA Organic certified, EU organic certified and have the FSSC 22000 certification.
Low GI Score (Glycemic Index) means this is ideal for those with blood sugar problems. (More famous and popular syrups such as Maple, Agave and Corn Syrup scores much higher on the GI Score and do not contain the nutritional values found in coconut treacle)
